About the Climate Bonds Initiative

Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused NGO working to mobilise the $100 trillion global bond market for climate change solutions. We promote investment in projects and assets necessary for a rapid transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy.

Our main workstreams are green bond standards and certification, data and market analysis, policy and market development, communications and advocacy.

Climate Bonds is a fast growing, dynamic NGO driven by a big mission. You will be working within an organisation that is leading the development of innovative international climate finance solutions.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Certification Team. The individual will have a range of responsibilities which contribute to ensuring the quality and efficient operation of the Scheme.

The Certification team’s work is based on the Climate Bonds Certification Scheme, which is the only global certification scheme for green labelled bonds and loans. It sets out guidelines for best practice controls and processes for green bond and loan issuers, as well as Sector Criteria which lay out which types of infrastructure investments contribute towards a Paris Agreement aligned future.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about CBI’s wider goals, as well as the immediate goals and function of the Certification Scheme. Being passionate in the fight against climate change is a key prerequisite, as well as the ability to express this commitment effectively to all partners and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the team in the Certification process
  • Creating and updating information about the Certification Scheme on the CBI website
  • Maintaining records and data of Certified bonds and loans
  • Maintaining and updating records and data of approved verifiers
  • Organising communication with the global CBI teams
  • Organising meetings and liaising with external stakeholders
  • Collaborating with CBI colleagues for the efficient functioning of the Certification Scheme
  • Conducting research related to the Certification Scheme
  • Other functions, if and when required, to support the Certification Scheme

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Environmental Sciences, or similar
  • Excellent communication (writing and speaking) skills in English
  • Good understanding of climate science and ESG principles
  • Keen interest in climate change, sustainability and green finance
  • Methodical and organised, with attention to detail
  • Collaborative and efficient in working with colleagues from other teams
  • An excellent and responsive client focused attitude
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solving initiative
  • Self-motivated and flexible
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable:

  • Understanding of capital markets
