Certification

The Climate Bonds Standard and Certification Scheme is a labelling scheme for bonds, loans & other debt instruments. Rigorous scientific criteria ensure that it is consistent with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement to limit warming to under 2 degrees. The Scheme is used globally by bond issuers, governments, investors and the financial markets to prioritise investments which genuinely contribute to addressing climate change.

Monash University is committed to incorporating environmental sustainability into all facets of its teaching, research and operations and to reducing the impact of the built environment on the planet through pursuing best practice in sustainable design for all new buildings and existing building upgrades.

This includes 2 libraries and other campus buildings.

The proceeds from the bond will help to finance their 5-year Capital Development Plan, which involves constructing new teaching facilities which meet the low carbon buildings criteria and installing solar PV panels.
