EIB (AAA) taps Climate Awareness Bond (Nov 2019) for further EUR250m = largest green bond issued to date. 2/3 investors European, ¼ Nordic.

This week the EIB announced it is tapping its Climate Awareness Bond for a further EUR250m in an announcement that makes takes the bond up to at least EUR900m. This is the first time the EIB has tapped the 1.375% November 2019 bond.

New €80m 12yr French enviro bond 90% over-subscribed - Calais shows the way

Yesterday the Nord-Pas de Calais region of France announced its second successful issuance of a socially responsible bond since 2008.

The €80m, 12 year bond was facilitated by Credit Agricole - yes, it's that Tanguy Claquin again. Coupon (basically interest rate) was 3.42%, S&P rating is AA-.

CDC Climate has published a useful paper on green bonds. They suggest that at a time when bank lending is squeezed, green bonds offer an alternative financing for initiatives with an environmental goal.
