Climate Bonds Initiative welcomes CIB Research to its partnership programme

The partnership targets increased cooperation for the benefit of local climate finance

Beijing, 28/03/2023, 10:00 AM: Climate Bonds Initiative (Climate Bonds) is pleased to announce that CIB Economic Research and Consulting Co., Ltd (CIB Research), a member institute of the Industrial Bank, has joined the Climate Bonds' Partnership Programme. The Programme seeks to empower partner organisations with the tools and knowledge needed to influence and instigate the changes required to mobilise bond markets for climate change solutions. The Partnership includes exclusive access to Climate Bonds' labelled green bond database.

CIB Research is the leading green finance research organisation in China. In September 2022, it established the "CIB Institute for Carbon Neutrality and Finance" committed to becoming the leading green finance think tank in China's banking industry, focusing on the research of green finance, climate and environmental economics, and energy and industrial low-carbon transformation.

In 2022, Climate Bonds and CIB Research worked together to publish the China’s Growing Sustainable Debt Market report, which provides analysis on the market status and insights on policy implementations as well as market outlook. The two organisations will join forces again to launch the China Sustainable Debt State of the Market Report 2022. It is expected to be released in Q2 this year.

By partnering with Climate Bonds, CIB Research reinforces its commitment to pioneering the development and improvement of China’s green and sustainable finance market.

Sean Kidney, CEO, Climate Bonds Initiative

"We are incredibly excited to welcome CIB Research to our Partners programme! Further using our sustainable bond databases, market intelligence and capacity building opportunities, will support a steady growth of China's sustainable finance market and the achievement of climate goals."

WANG Xuexiang, Chairman, CIB Research

"As the member institute of the very first Chinese bank to sign the Equator Principles, CIB Research aims to become a leading national green finance think tank in China's banking industry. We are pleased to join Climate Bonds' Partnership Program and look forward to further cooperation with the organization, jointly promoting China's green and low-carbon transition development and carbon goals."
