Event type:
Webinar
Event date:
Aug 10, 2021
Event time:
13:00 London / 14:00 Johannesburg

The webinar aims to cover key topics on energy transition in Africa, the role of green finance, the potential for an African new green deal, and highlight case studies from around the world.

Supported by Agora and hosted in collaboration with the African Climate Foundation, the event will also mark the launch of the “Green Bonds in South Africa: How Green Bonds Can Support South Africa’s Energy Transition” Report, providing key insights to market practitioners in climate finance and renewable energy.

The webinar will provide the foundational steps for surfacing new narratives and approaches for policymakers to begin to incorporate wider development questions into climate change policy formulation processes, with the aim to:

- Shift the narrative on transition for Africa to leadership and ambition
- Shape the global discourse on Just Transition
- Catalyse large emitters to use climate finance to finance a credible and ambitious transition

We will be brining you a distinguished panel of speakers (TBA) from the development finance sector and key policy institutions. The platform aims to bring together experts from the climate finance sector, banking sector, government, energy, industry as well as think tanks and civil society organisations.

We would like to thank our sponsor Agora for their support.
