Certification

The Climate Bonds Standard and Certification Scheme is a labelling scheme for bonds, loans & other debt instruments. Rigorous scientific criteria ensure that it is consistent with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement to limit warming to under 2 degrees. The Scheme is used globally by bond issuers, governments, investors and the financial markets to prioritise investments which genuinely contribute to addressing climate change.

 

Rural Electrification Corporation Limited

 

Rural Electrification Corp is a state owned company under the Ministry of Power. Its purpose is to finance the development of power generation and distribution across India. In particular, it focuses on rural communities in India, where millions of people live without reliable electricity supplies.

The bond proceeds will be finance and refinance new and existing renewable energy generation with a total capacity of over 1.6 GW.
