New York State Housing Financing Agency offers financing to both non-profit and for-profit developers to build new and maintain existing affordable rental housing for families across the State of New York.
HFA expects that the housing projects financed with the proceeds of its Green Bonds will meet or exceed certain ENERGYSTAR energy efficiency standards and thereby qualify as "Low Carbon Buildings" under the Climate Bond Initiative's criteria.
The first bond in the program was announced by New York State Governor Cuomo, and he highllighted the energy efficiency goals of the program.
The bonds 2016 Series H and 2017 Series A financed 643 housing units across 4 counties in New York State.

The bond 2018 Series F financed 619 housing units in 4 different counties in New York State.
The bond 2018 Series H financed 681 housing units in 5 different counties in New York State.
The bond 2018 Series I financed 785 housing units in 6 different counties in New York State.
The bond 2019 Series D financed 552 housing units in 3 different counties in New York State.
