In January 2017 Alpha Trains Group, the largest private operating lessor of passenger trains and locomotives in Continental Europe, completed the world´s first green private placement by a leasing company in the rolling stock sector. The Company raised €250m to refinance debt associated with the acquisition of 63 modern electric multiple unit train sets equipped with environmental friendly and energy efficient technology which reduces energy consumption within passenger transportation.
In October 2019, they issued again, a mix of private placement notes and a loan.
