Today, Climate Bonds presented the 8th Climate Bonds Awards, recognising organisations from emerging markets, financial institutions, and governments worldwide who led the development of the market over the course of 2022.
Among the winners are the European Investment Bank, which issued the largest Sustainability Bond of 2022, and the Bank of China, which issued the largest Financial Corporate Green Bond of 2022, as well as Citigroup, which issued the largest financial corporate social bond of 2022.
Additionally, Climate Bonds recognised the nations of Singapore, Canada, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark, and Austria for their roles as Sovereign Green Bond Pioneers, leading the way on sovereign finance to meet the climate crisis.
The awards ceremony is a globally recognised platform, marking leadership, best practices, and innovation in green and sustainable finance. Our awards incorporate Green Bond pioneers globally as well as newer debt instruments that embrace the broader landscape of sustainable finance.
Since 2016 Climate Bonds Initiative has awarded over 211 organisations, financial institutions and governments that have demonstrated leadership through financing of climate-resilient and low-carbon projects across a wide range of industries and economic sectors.
The Awards this year took place together with the launch of our flagship annual Global State of the Market Report, announcing the year’s top achievers in sustainable finance.
