Leading Dutch fund manager ACTIAM has joined the Climate Bonds Partner program. ACTIAM (formerly SNS Asset Management) has assets of EUR 46.8 billion (US$53 billion) under management.
Erik Jan van Bergen, Chief Investment Officer at ACTIAM, said:
“Responsible investment is in ACTIAM’s DNA. We are actively involved in the growing climate bond and green bond market, as we think they have the potential to make a real difference in addressing climate change. We support the Climate Bonds Initiative’s efforts to develop this market, for example by developing clear Standards.
We have made a commitment to build a EUR 1 billion portfolio of green bonds by the end of 2015, pending market developments and sustained client demand. It is important to us that this market delivers on its promise. Becoming a member of the Climate Bonds Standard Industry Working Group and a Climate Bonds Partner is a way for us to contribute to this goal.
We recommend our fellow investors to become a Climate Bonds Partner and work with us in tackling issues like green definitions.”
Climate Bonds CEO Sean Kidney said:
“ACTIAM have been a cornerstone buyer in this fledgling market. They have a clear appreciation of the potential to make green bonds an important part of addressing climate change.
“ACTIAM have also been providing valuable counsel about the activities of the Climate Bonds Initiative. It’s an honour to have them as a Climate Bonds Partner.”
