Senegal’s Green Taxonomy: Building a Sustainable Future

The Ministère de l'Environnement et de la Transition écologique (METE) and the Ministère des Finances et du Budget du Sénégal (MFB) are leading the way in developing Senegal’s Green Taxonomy, a crucial tool to channel finance toward sustainable investments.

During a recent mission, supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Climate Bonds Initiative and Ambire Global, key progress was made in advancing this initiative.

Progress from the Mission:

• In-depth training for the Steering Committee (COPIL), the User Committee, sectoral technical expert groups (GETs) and gender experts
• Strategic collaborations with the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition (METE), the Ministry of Finance and Budget (MFB) and UN Women
• Development of key technical criteria, including Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) and Minimum Social Safeguards (MSS)
