Buildings Trajectory Calculator

Calculating individual commercial and residential buildings CO₂ targets

The tool calculates the performance (i.e. carbon intensity) target a property asset should achieve in order to be eligible for Climate Bonds certification under the Residential Property criteria and the Commercial Property CO2 Target Calculator.

The tool calculates the performance target based on three factors:

  1. The city’s baseline performance (the top 15% of the market),
  2. The year the bond is issued, and
  3. The term of the bond.

The first factor is based on data Climate Bonds has collected, while the user sets the second and third factors by sliding the two buttons along the bar at the bottom of the horizontal axis of the chart.

The user can view the city’s baseline performance by hovering over the starting point of the 2050 zero-carbon trajectory line on the chart.

Access and use of this tool is free of charge. We welcome questions or feedback on the tool.

EU Buildings Trajectory Tool

This EU Trajectory Tool provides all the information necessary for an applicant to evaluate the local (city-level and regional-level) decarbonisation trajectory for a commercial building asset.

The interactive map provides a complete list of locations for which a trajectory has been developed (this dataset will be continually updated).

By clicking on a reference location, the requirement for a building’s emissions intensity calculated for 2019 is provided.  This provides the decarbonisation benchmark, from which the pathway to reach net zero by 2050, can be achieved.
