Investment in solar is growing as costs come down, technology improves and energy policies shift towards renewables. But clean energy development still needs a huge increase in funding and scale.

As part of this, we are seeing solar based green bonds now being Climate Bond Certified from Australia to India to Germany.

The next Webinar in our 2016 Green Bonds 101 Series looks at the Climate Bonds Solar Criteria and asks:

What’s involved in Solar Criteria certification?

Can solar bonds help shift investment into the hundreds of billions?

Does certification encourage investors to back solar green bonds?

This webinar covered:

  • What is a solar bond?
  • Who can issue a solar bond?
  • How do they get certified?
  • The value of certification?
  • What does the Climate Bonds Standard measure?

Webinar: Introduction to Green Bonds: Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask!

Following COP21 in Paris, green bonds are being highlighted as an investment option to assist nations in bridging the climate finance gap and meeting  their carbon reduction commitments.

The potential for mobilising climate change solutions and green infrastructure investment through green bonds is huge, given the international bond market is valued at over US$100 trillion.

But what are they?

How do they work?

And what is a bond anyway?

There are many questions around green bonds, Climate Bonds Initiative has the answers.

These webinars will cover:

  • Introduction - What is a bond?
  • How are bonds used in capital markets?
  • What makes a bond green?
  • How can green bonds help finance climate goals?
  • Supply - Who is issuing green bonds, what are they issuing, why aren’t there more?
