Certification for Assets and Portfolios
What can be Certified?
Assets or portfolios, whether planned or existing, are eligible for certification if they satisfy the applicable Sector Eligibility Criteria.
Who can Apply?
The owner of any eligible asset or portfolio can submit an application for certification.
Certification Process
To achieve Certification, nominated Assets must:
- Comply with the Climate Bonds Standard and relevant Sector Criteria.
- Be clearly labelled and described in sufficient detail to ensure they are identifiable.
Types of asset certification
Static Asset Certification:
Applies to assets or portfolios that remain unchanged throughout the certification period.
Dynamic Asset Certification:
Designed for pools of assets where new additions may occur during the certification period.
Requires verification of the asset owner’s selection controls and procedures.
Certification details
- The Certification label is awarded to the certified asset, endorsing its green credentials.
- Certification is valid for 12 months and can be renewed through further verification.
Application requirements
Applicants must submit the following documents to certification@climatebonds.net:
- Information Form
- Signed Certification Agreement
- Verification Report, including the relevant checklist.
