Supporting climate goals with wind power
Wind power is a key solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Recognised for its strong climate benefits, the Wind Energy Criteria required no Technical Working Group for their development.
The Prototype V1.0 was approved by the Climate Bonds Standards Board, which includes institutional investors and leading environmental organisations.
Aligning investments with the Paris Agreement
Financial instruments - such as bonds and loans - linked to eligible wind energy assets, activities, and entities align with the Paris Agreement. These investments support efforts to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
Eligible wind energy assets
The Criteria cover a range of wind energy-related assets, including:
- Onshore wind energy generation facilities.
- Transmission infrastructure dedicated to supporting wind generation.
- Manufacturing facilities for wind energy equipment.
