Strengthening the regional capacity for rigorous, science-aligned sustainable finance
Beijing, 19 December 2025, 9AM— Climate Bonds Initiative is pleased to announce that Fareast Credit Rating Co., Ltd. (Fareast Credit) has been approved by the Climate Bonds Standard Board as an Approved Verifier under the Climate Bonds Standard and Certification Scheme. The approval authorises Fareast Credit to conduct Use of Proceeds (UoP) and Asset Certification verification engagements in China.
A major step for China’s international alignment in sustainable finance
Fareast Credit is among the first institutions registered by China’s Green Bond Standard Committee to independently provide external assessments in the domestic green bond market. The organisation has consistently advanced the professionalisation of green bond evaluation in China, rooted in sustainability principles and aligned with evolving national and international standards.
By becoming an Approved Verifier under the Climate Bonds Standard, Fareast Credit strengthens the bridge between China’s fast-growing green finance market and global investor expectations. This new status enables the company to:
- Deliver verification services aligned with science-based decarbonisation pathways
- Support issuers in obtaining Climate Bonds Certification for green and climate-aligned instruments
- Enhance the international recognition and credibility of Chinese green bonds
- Contribute to the continued internationalisation of China’s sustainable debt market
Wenhong Xie, Head of the China Programme at Climate Bonds Initiative, commented:
"China has been one of the world's leading markets for green and climate bonds. The approval of Fareast Credit as an Approved Verifier further strengthens the integrity of sustainable finance in the region, ensuring issuers have access to rigorous, internationally recognized verification services. This development is another key step in aligning China’s green finance system with global best practices. We look forward to collaborating closely with Fareast to help build a more credible and resilient market that can effectively channel capital into climate action."
Xiangdong Lv, CEO, Fareast Credit Rating Co., Ltd. said:
“As one of the first registered external reviewers of green bonds in China, Fareast Credit has always adhered to the idea of sustainable development and actively participates in the development of China's green bond market. Taking this opportunity of becoming a Climate Bonds verifier, Fareast Credit will continue to work prudently as a certification body, offer climate bond certification services based on climate bond standards, enhance the recognition and influence of Chinese green bonds in the international market, and continuously promote the internationalization of China's green bond market.”
