Webinar: Methane abatement and finance challenges in the Waste sector

The waste sector, including wastewater, is the third-largest source of methane emissions, contributing approximately 20% of global methane output, trailing only the oil & gas and agriculture sectors. Despite the impacts of methane emissions on climate, methane abatement remains severely underfunded, accounting for just 1% of global climate finance, according to CPI’s Landscape of Methane Abatement Finance 2023. This webinar will explore the urgent need to mobilise capital to scale up projects focused on methane reduction in the waste sector. With the majority of funding currently flowing to waste-to-energy initiatives, there remains a critical financing gap for science-based methane abatement solutions.
