Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused NGO working to mobilise the $100 trillion global bond market for climate change solutions. We promote investment in projects and assets necessary for a rapid transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy.

Our main work streams are green bond standards and certification, data and market analysis, policy and market development, communications and advocacy.

The Role

The Climate Bonds Initiative reports and communications are well-renowned for being both highly informative and visually appealing. The visual element has been vital in helping us to communicate messages simply and effectively to a global audience. As the Climate Bonds Initiative grows, our visual content, reports, and imagery for use in infographics, communications and marketing, website, digital and social media content is expanding.

The Junior Designer will work with the Lead Graphic Designer to produce reports and other graphical content for publications and provide graphic support to the Communications Team. The successful candidate will report to the Production and Content Manager and work closely with the Head of Communications and Lead Graphic Designer to produce visual content consistent with branding and house style against relevant internal and external deadlines. 

Where required they will also liaise with core and regional teams on designated projects.

The successful candidate will have strong technical graphic design capabilities and understanding of brand concepts, as well as a collaborative working style and an ability to work to tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Production and Content Manager, Head of Communications and Lead Designer to understand requirements and brainstorm visual ideas to communicate complex messages
  • Support the Lead Designer in the design, layout, look and feel of reports including multiple text-based information and visually engaging graphical elements
  • Support the Communications Team on collateral development, business documentation & guides, website imagery, digital and social media content & imagery
  • Work with Lead Designer to create infographics to communicate complex messages
  • Work with the Lead Designer and global teams to design and layout different language versions of reports.
  • Work with the Lead Designer and Head of Communications to understand Climate Bonds branding guidelines and ensure all public content and documentation is of high quality and consistent with brand, style and good design practices
  • Work with Lead Designer and proof-readers to take initial layouts through to final print ready files.
  • Liaise with the Production and Content Manager to ensure timely delivery and smooth workflow delivery against multiple cross team deadlines

 

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Relevant graphic design qualification
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Indesign Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to take a collaborative approach
  • A positive approach to working at the Climate Bonds Initiative
  • Eligible to work in the UK or EU

Desirable

  • 1-3 years relevant design experience
  • Knowledge of After Effects welcome
  • Basic understanding of climate change and climate finance agenda
  • Other languages an advantage particularly French, German, Chinese, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish
