Sophie Lam

Sophie is a Resilience Associate at Climate Bonds Initiative, with four years of experience unpacking and valuing complex climate and water risks, rethinking transition strategies to “slow down” these risks, and building resilience so that finance, corporates, and governments can make better decisions today for water tomorrow.

Prior to joining Climate Bonds, Sophie worked at China Water Risk (CWR), a leading Hong Kong-based think tank, where she focused specifically on coastal threat impacts. She led the geospatial mapping and data analysis for reports, “No Sense Climate Strategies! Top 4 HK Real Estate Listco's Unprepared & Highly Exposed to Imminent Coastal Threats” and “Crude Awakening! Fast Rising Seas Threaten Global Oil Trade and Energy Security – Spotlight: Japan and South Korea”, which was cited by the UN Secretary-General at the World Economic Forum.

She has contributed to more than 20 publications, with her work cited in reports by CLSA and Shuang Tan. Sophie also holds an MSc in Climate Change, Management and Finance from Imperial College London and a BA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Exeter.
