Shizuka Onishi

Shizuka is a programme manager with extensive experience leading multilateral initiatives to deliver climate, environmental, and nature-based investment programmes across Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East. She has held roles in portfolio operations, policy analysis, and sustainability at JICA, the CBD Secretariat and IUCN, where she led innovative blended finance solutions in partnership with the Green Climate Fund, Global Environment Facility, and UN organisations.
Shizuka has also contributed to coordination efforts to align development finance with the Paris Agreement including through OECD processes, and has worked to strengthen collaboration between key European and Japanese institutions. She holds a Master of Science in Environmental Governance.
