Webinar: Low Carbon Transport 101: Green Bonds for Road and Rail Infrastructure. Who Can Issue? What's Involved? What's the Potential? Hear from the Experts

Why Green Transport Counts

Transport is the second largest contributor to global GHG emissions after electricity generation; responsible for 23% of all energy-related CO2 emissions globally.

But how to attract the $15.7 trillion in additional transport investment the IEA says will be required between now and 2050 to limit global temperature rises to 2˚ Celsius?

The potential for green bonds to fund to fund new low carbon transport infrastructure is huge. Transport cuts across urbanisation and cities growth, planning for megacities, industry, resources and more.

The sector is so large we’ve split this Low Carbon Transport 101 into 2 separate Webinars

  • Webinar 1 - Rail Transport (September 8th): including rail, metros, trams, freight railway lines and supporting infrastructure e.g. IT upgrades, signalling, communication technologies and charging infrastructure

  • Webinar 2 - Road Transport (October 4th):  including green bonds to fund electric/hybrid buses, bicycle schemes, private light-duty and heavy goods vehicles that are electric, hybrid or alternative fuel and bus rapid transport

The Big Questions

The Low Carbon Transport 101 Webinars will look at these questions:

  • But what are Low Carbon Transport Bonds?
  • How do they work?
  • What’s involved in Certification under the Low Carbon Transport Criteria?
  • Will certification encourage investors to shift capital to low carbon transport bonds?
  • What led previous Climate Bond Certified issuers to choose certification?

Join us to learn more from Climate Bonds Initiative experts and recent Certified Low Carbon Transport Bond issuers, followed by a Q&A session.
